Arizona has been so dry lately, I can hardly stand it. As someone with dry and sensitive skin, it’s kind of a nightmare really. My skin needs tons of lotion and my lips have been super chapped. I can’t get enough chapstick!
I first experimented with making homemade peppermint lip balm last month and loved it. First, all it takes to make it is melting ingredients in a bowl over a double boiler. It’s the easiest craft ever, except when you hand someone a tube and tell them it’s homemade, they will be seriously impressed because it sounds much more difficult than it actually is. Score points for you!
And second, I can control what goes in and what doesn’t go in my lip balm. I was pretty happy with the peppermint formula, but this vanilla version is my favorite. It’s softer thanks to the addition of the sweet almond oil. The only thing I might do differently next time is add a bit more of the vanilla oil as I love all things vanilla.
I made a batch and handed them out to my co-workers, but how cute would these be for little Valentine’s Day gifts for your girlfriends or family?
